Relaxation in online filing of Form 15CA and 15CB till 30.06.2021 | Press release

Today only we had discussed about the difficulty being face by taxpayer in filing Form 15CA and 15CB and now Ministry of finance has released a press release to relax the timeline for issuing Form 15CB/ 15CA due to issues faced on the new portal. The press release is as under:

As per the Income-tax Act, 1961, there is a requirement to furnish Form 15CA/15CB electronically. Presently, taxpayers upload the Form 15CA, along with the Chartered Accountant Certificate in Form 15CB, wherever applicable, on the e-filing portal, before submitting the copy to the authorized dealer for any foreign remittance.

In view of the difficulties reported by taxpayers in electronic filing of Income Tax Forms 15CA/15CB on the portal www.incometax.gov.in, it has been decided that taxpayers can submit the aforesaid Forms in manual format to the authorized dealers till June 30th, 2021. Authorized dealers are advised to accept such Forms till June 30th, 2021 for the purpose of foreign remittances. A facility will be provided on the new e-filing portal to upload these forms at a later date for the purpose of generation of the Document Identification Number.

Hence, you can manually prepare Format of Form 15CB as the PDF of same is available on e-filing website and submit the same to banker so as to process the foreign remittance and on future date same needs to be again submitted online to generate DIN number.

Do remember that UDIN needs to be generated for such manual Form 15CB as well.

This press release gives a hint that ITD might take as long as 30.06.2021 to make the new portal stable and this will hamper filing of Income tax return and other compliance such as e-proceedings, appeal etc.
