In the past 3-4 years we have seen a huge growth in people getting their Income Tax return filed using the online platforms and software’s as the cost of getting Income Tax return filed is very low and sometimes they even file their income tax return for free and also you can get some cashback.

Hence, in the temptation of getting return filed for free and cashback and gift card people are getting their income tax return filed using such platforms. So let’s check what things we need to keep in mind before getting your Income Tax return filed from such platforms.

1. Nothing is for Free:

As we know nothing is free in this world and hence the platforms and software’s which are providing you free service are not actually providing you free service they might be either doing it as a part of initial advertisement of platform mostly your data is getting sold to the credit card companies and banks and thus you are able to file your Income Tax return for free. Thus, your Income tax return and data is coming in public domain.

2. Use of just software’s and no professional helping you with your Income Tax Return:

In most cases the platforms and software’s invest a lot in preparing the software and hence they don’t hire professional’s or experts to guide you while filing your Income Tax return because of which many people have complained that either incorrect data was filed or incorrect ITR was chosen or even wrong balance sheet was feeded. Further, in most cases no consultation is provided or discussed for better filing or about data available in AIS (Annual Information Statement) or about how to plan tax.

3. No After sale service:

Once the platform has filed your Income tax return and if you receive any notice there is no responsible person available to guide you as you would be dealing with a company with hundreds of employees and you don’t know exactly whom to ask your query. Also, in most cases the platforms don’t provide any support after the Income Tax return is filed which is not a case if you get your Income Tax return filed from an expert or professional.

4. Incomplete Income tax return or no e-verification of income tax return:

Many a times it has been seen that such platforms don’t file complete Income Tax return i.e.:

  1. As we all know that if total income is above Rs. 50 lakh of a person he/ she needs to fill Schedule AL in Income Tax return, however many of these platforms will not fill it.
  2. If you won’t provide them details about your capital gain or F&O trading they won’t take that details or ask for that details even after looking at the transactions in AIS.
  3. While claiming TDS many a times they enter incorrect TAN details or sometimes the software or platform don’t even fill the TDS schedule but claim TDS credit and which in turn get’s assessee a notice from Income Tax department.
  4. The platform has done everything correctly as mentioned above however it does not tells assessee or client that they need to verify or e-verify the Income Tax return and hence the Income Tax return filed by assessee turns out to be a defective return and the assessee cannot do anything about it as no one is there to answer.

Thus, there are various concerns before you go to any such online platforms for getting your Income Tax return filed because nowadays the Income Tax department is very strict in handling the Income tax return and sending notices.

You must be wondering as to why are we saying such things about the online platforms. So then let me explain you how is Taxontips.com different from all such online platforms.

5. How is Taxontips different from such online platform:

We write and publish articles which are supervised by the experts or professionals and we try to provide genuine information and whenever anyone comes to us for a consultation or filing of Income tax return or GST registration we get them in touch with a Practicing Chartered Accountant who is an expert in his field.

Please note that none of the Chartered Accountants are advertised on our platform as it is against the professional ethics, however we have tie up with some experienced and professional Chartered Accountants and hence your work if handled by a professional and not a machine or an employee who is not a Chartered Accountant and who is sitting just there to file Income Tax return.

Thus, we are not any software company which is getting your return filed by a Machine we are working as a bridge between you and an experienced Chartered Accountant and giving you the services of the Chartered Accountant in a traditional manner where you know your Chartered Accountant but with the touch of technology and he knows all kinds of notices practically going on in market etc. and you Income tax return will be filed on your income tax e-filing portal as is done in traditional manner.

You are getting services of a traditional chartered Accountant without going out of your home and everything is done online.

Hence, now you need to decide whether you wish to get your return and consultation from the machines or software’s or from the experts.

If you wish to File your Income tax return or consult a Chartered Accountant links are mentioned below:
