The due date for filing GSTR 9 and 9C for FY 2018-19 is 30.09.2020. However many representations have been made by industry to extend the due date as people are facing problem in completing GST audit due to the Covid outbreak.
Till date no official statement has been released by government to extend this due date, however based on reports by various news groups it is being speculated that council has decided to extend due date for GSTR 9/ 9C by 1 month till 31.10.2020.
It is being said that “RELIEF FOR #GST TAXPAYERS IN OFFING: Sources tell me, Noting #COVID19 hardships, GST Implementation Commission considering to extend #GSTR9 & #GSTR9C (FY18-19) deadline, from 30 Sept to 31st Oct. A FORMAL DECISION IS YET TO BE MADE BY GOVT

Further, representations have been made by trade groups to make the applicability of E-invoicing on business with turnover above Rs. 500 crore, on voluntary basis in the start.
