Extension of Time Limit for Filing of various TDS/ TCS return for Q1 AY 2024-25

CBDT has vide circular No. 9 of 2023 Dt. 28.06.2023 extended the due date for filing TDS return for Q1 of AY 2024-25 for which normal due date is 31.07.2023. The extended due date is 30.09.2023.

CBDT has extended the due date vide order u/s 119 of the Act.

CBDT has extended due date for Form 26Q, 27Q and Form 27EQ.

 

Please note that due date for Form 24Q is still the same i.e. 31.07.2023.

 

Relevant extract of the notification is as under:

 

“The statement of deduction of tax for the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24, required to be furnished in Form No. 26Q or Form No. 27Q, on or before 31st July, 2023 under Rule 31A of the Income-tax Rules, 1962 (“the Rules”), may be furnished on or before 30th September, 2023.

 

(ii) The statement of collection of tax for the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24, required to be furnished in Form No. 27EQ, on or before 15th July, 2023 under Rule 31AA of the Rules, may be furnished on or before 30th September, 2023.”

 

No specific reason has been provided for such an extension that there is some upgradation of system or anything else. It has been just said that due date shall be extended.
