CBDT extends Tax audit and Income tax return due date for FY 2019-20

Just today we had posted an article on changes in 3CD and how extension is going to come in 2-3 days and today itself extension of due date was announced for tax audit and Income tax return.

The extension has been announced by way of press release details of which are as under:

1. Due date for furnishing of Income Tax Returns for the taxpayers (including their partners) who are required to get their accounts audited: Due date is 31.01.2021

2. Due date for furnishing of Income Tax Returns for the taxpayers who are required to furnish report in respect of international/specified domestic transactions: Due date is 31.01.2021

3. Due date for furnishing of Income Tax Returns for any other taxpayers other than mentioned above i.e. normal tax payer: Due date is 31.12.2020

4. Date for furnishing of various audit reports under the Act including tax audit report and report in respect of international/specified domestic transaction: Due date is 31st December, 2020.

 

Thus, in short due date for any tax audit report and Income tax return where audit is not required is 31.12.2020, due date of any tax return where audit is being conducted or partners of firm of which audit is being conducted is 31.01.2021
